The Language of Clams
I have been making art using memories and feelings from dreams and my life and childhood. Turtles, fish and other natural images continue to inspire me. I love painting and looking into an imaginary world. This is part of a series I'm working on about the language of clams. The characters in the piece are derived from shapes on the shell of Lioconcha hieroglyphica, a South Pacific Clam. It looks like writing and made me wonder what their language would look like/feel like (happy of course). This image is made from acrylic crackle paste, paint, gels and glazes with gold acrylic appliqués made with a stencil from the shapes on the clamshell.
